Now these animals really are stuffed with the latest in AM electronics from that era. My wife still has her AM radio dog from when she was a child.
The only one that might have gotten my attention would be the King Kong looking radio, but to seal the deal, I think it would need to be Godzilla. He is, after all, the “King of Monsters.”
There is a lot of interest in 70s stuffed animals on this blog so I am going to post a couple more. It has been a while since I have brought this subject around.
This is a talking stuffed animal toy line from Mattel from the 1973 Spiegel catalog. You will recognize several of the more famous icons from the 70s such as Smokey the Bear, Bugs Bunny and Curious George. Larry Lion was a talker that Mattel had making since the 60s!
I had this stuffed monkey when I was a youngin’. He has a banana in his hand which can be put in his mouth so it looks like he is eating it. I had mine way before 1972 so he had been around for a while. Come to think of it, it might be at my parent’s house. I seem to remember my mother saying she kept it.
