Shogun Warriors from 1978

Shogun Warriors was a Mattel toy line based on Japanese anime comic books from the late 70s. I wasn’t into the whole comic book scene but my cousin had a few of these Shogun Warrior toys and they were pretty cool. Many of them had missiles that could be launched and I think a few of them had moving parts.

Yes the toys were very cool. I don’t remember which ones my cousin had but they seemed to look more menacing then what these do, if my memory serves me correctly. When you have a toy that fires rockets it can’t help but be cool!

My cousins each one of these, one a Shogun Warrior and the other Godzilla. I always thought they were really cool toys. Recently, I caught a new show on the Travel Channel called “Toy Hunter”. The show follows Jordan Hembrough as he travels the country, scouring attics and comic stores for amazing vintage toys from 60’s – 90’s. He has found plenty of classic toys I once owned or would have loved to own. If you get a chance watch and episode, it’s on Wednesday nights on the Travel Channel.

I will check it out. That show would be right up my alley. I have to admit there is always a bit of jealousy when I see or hear people score all those cool old toys for next to nothing.
